Posh: The evolution of the traditional British brand December 2003 Bute Fabrics is part of a British Council touring exhibition, entitled Posh which has been exhibited in Seoul and Moscow. POSH is being exhibited at the Museum of Applied Art and Design in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro from 22nd January to 20th February 2004. The exhibition examines the evolution of brands that have for many years been associated with timelessness and quality and are now employing contemporary design to great effect in transforming their businesses. Originally a description of refined ladies travelling to India by ship (Port Out, Starboard Home), Posh is now a catch-all definition of all things long-established, classy and expensive, or those that would like to appear so. Posh can also describe the companies featured in the exhibition, from clothing brands whose traditional market has been the landed gentry to purveyors of jewellery and silverware to the royal houses of Europe. Bute Fabrics is delighted to exhibit in the excellent company of Aquascutum, Asprey, Alfred Dunhill and Wedgewood amongst many others. Bute Fabrics' exhibit charts the development of the company from its founding, to the development of a new graphic identity and the launch of the Bute Collection.
