September 2006 Bute goes to Sleep Bute Fabrics, the contemporary textile manufacturer based on the Isle of Bute on the West Coast of Scotland, will be exhibiting at Sleep 06 for the first time. In addition to the full Bute Collection, a selection of new accessories, specifically designed with the hotel market in mind, will be unveiled. In an exciting development for Bute, a brand new fabric Skye will be previewed at Sleep 06. Skye, designed in collaboration with the award-winning designers Barber Osgerby, is a dramatic and highly colourful addition to the Bute stable.
Bute Accessories will feature throws, for sofas and beds, manufactured using Braemar, a super high profile honeycomb textile. Its depth and texture are created through a combination of raised warp and weft creating mini troughs very much like the pockets of a honeycomb. Its 3-dimensional engineering gives Braemar a distinctive Bute feel, and these textural throws will be either finished with a fringe, or a luxurious trim. In addition to throws, a range of cushions, also in Braemar will be exhibited, ideal for bedroom interiors.
Classics from the Bute Collection often specified for the hotel industry include Tiree, a high profile bouclé, Tweed, a colourful contemporary twist on a traditional tweed, and the newly launched Appin. Appin is a modern interpretation of a traditional cord, giving a crisp ribbed effect when upholstered on furniture, rather like a fine furrowed landscape. All these fabrics and many more will be on show at Sleep 06. Notes to Editors Visit Bute Fabrics at stand 79, Sleep 06, Old Billingsgate Market, 7-8 November 2006.
