Do your fabrics have a pattern repeat? |

A.
As all of our fabrics are dobby weaves any patterns are very small.
The fabrics that do have a recognisable pattern are: Grampian, Kilmory
and Eriskay.

What is the width of the fabric? |
|
A.
We normally weave to two standard widths but for special requests
we can vary the standard for an order of sufficient quantity. Elgin,
Pentland, Eriskay, Jura, Kames, Tiree, Tiree Too, Tweed & Selkirk
are 138cm; all other fabrics are 130cm wide.

How many colours in the range? |

A.
Our colour ranges are very extensive and vary according to the particular
design. Please check each corresponding colour card (below):

Does the fabric meet crib 5? |
|
A.
This
is the common description for the flame retardancy contract test
in the UK. Please look at the technical notes on this site or see
our specifications on individual colour cards:

How many rubs does it do? |
|
A.
This is a reference to the Martindale rub test which defines the international
standard for abrasion resistance. All our fabrics reach or exceed
heavy contract standards. Check the specifications on the front of
our colour card or refer to the technical notes here.

Can this fabric be used for curtains? |
|
A.
Our fabrics are designed for upholstery applications but can be
used for curtaining. In all cases we would suggest you check how the
fabric sews-up and hangs. Some may require an additional FR finish
to reach the prevailing contract standard for curtaining.

How do you clean the fabric? |
|
A.

(above) as situations may vary.

8. Do you make tartan? |
|
A.
No, but can we offer you a modern scottish upholstery fabric! Have
a good look at our range.

Do your fabrics meet cigarette and match standards? |
|
A.
The Bute Collection meets these requirements without further treatment.

What's the composition? |
|
A.
All of our fabrics are pure new wool or wool-rich. Please refer to
our colour cards or our specifications.

What's the delivery time? |
|
A.
All of our fabrics are stock supported, and most can be delivered
within two days'. For larger orders contact us for a programmed
delivery.

Times:
Two
day service on cut lengths. Normal delivery is FREE OF CHARGE for
quantities over 50 metres.On smaller volumes a flat rate carriage
charge of £10 applies. Special delivery requirements may be
charged accordingly.

Can the fabric be given a Scotchguard or Teflon finish? |
|
A.
Yes fabrics can be given a Teflon finish for stain resistance. The
original Scotchguard process has been withdrawn by the manufacturer
and is no longer available.

13. Where are you based? |
|
A.
Our headquarters and weaving mill are on the Island of Bute off
the southwest coast of Scotland about 30 miles from Glasgow. It's
very beautiful here so why not come and visit us?

International Airport, situated on the M8 motorway south of Glasgow
allows easy access to the island for all visitors.
